Most Requested BBQ Baked Beans

These BBQ baked beans are not only filling and tasty but also very delicious. The natural sweetness and smokiness of the beans complement any barbecued meats or burgers perfectly. It is easy to make, and your friends and family will be overjoyed when you serve it at your next summer grill party.


  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 whole small onion, minced
  • 2 tablespoons dry mesquite-flavored seasoning mix
  • (2) 28-ounce canned baked beans (such as Bush’s Original)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup barbeque sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard powder
  • 2 pinches cayenne pepper, or to taste


  1. Before you begin cooking, set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and mesquite seasoning while stirring occasionally for 10 minutes or until the beef has browned and crumbled.(Internal temperature should be 160 degrees fahrenheit)
  3. Carefully pour cooked beef into a large baking dish, making sure to drain any excess liquid. Gently stir in the baked beans, molasses, brown sugar, barbeque sauce, dry mustard powder, and cayenne pepper. Keep mixing until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  4. Cook the dish for 20 minutes, or until it starts to boil

If you make them ahead of time, no problem! Baked beans will last in an airtight container for up to a week when stored in the fridge. You can also store your leftovers in a freezer-safe, airtight container if you want to preserve them for up to 3 months.
