Mouth-watering Spicy Grilled Shrimp Recipe
Shrimp on the grill might not be as iconic as a steak, but it is definitely one of our favorites. The smoky flavor from grilling adds something special to the shrimp's natural sweetness. And because they cook so quickly, they are perfect for high-heat grilling.
For easy cooking and serving, try skewering your shrimp before putting them on the grill. Just remember to soak wooden skewers in water first so they don't catch fire.
What's great about this recipe is that the sauce can be used as both a marinade and glaze. Just remember to set some aside for basting the shrimp while it's grilling!

What is the recommended grilling time for shrimp?
To know when your shrimp is cooked, observe its color change from gray and translucent to pink and opaque. Additionally, observe the curling of their tails. When shrimp is cooked, its tail will curl slightly.
Be careful not to overcook it, as overcooked shrimp will have tightly curled tails. It should take only 1 to 2 minutes per side to cook shrimp.
Is it necessary to soak the skewers before using them?
To ensure the best results, it is important to soak wooden skewers before grilling shrimp.
How to make the grilled shrimp marinade:
Our recipe for marinade has lime juice, garlic, honey, soy sauce, and Sriracha which gives it spice. You can modify the recipe to suit your preference since you're the one in charge of grilling the shrimp. If you don't like spicy food, try replacing Sriracha with some mild harissa.
You can also use minced garlic, lemon zest, and salt as an alternative marinade. If you don't have honey, brown sugar or pure maple syrup are good substitutes. Lime juice can be swapped with lemon juice, and Sriracha can be replaced with your favorite hot sauce. You can use any fresh herb if cilantro is not available.
One great thing about this recipe is that the sauce can be used both as a marinade and a glaze. Remember to save some to use as a basting sauce while grilling the shrimp.
